You may have a passion for something - fermented foods, meditation, yoga, and feel inspired to teach others about it.
You may be recovering or recovered from a phenomenal life-changing event and want to share your journey.
You may be a health professional skilled in a particular modality and wish to facilitate a workshop.
You may want to run a group discussion around a topic that you are curious about. In the spirit of the un-conference, you can decide on the day.
To help you on the day, we’ve pulled together some tips for a great session:
At the start of the day we’ll ask you to give a quick overview of what you want to do in your session. This is your pitch and we recommend that you introduce yourself, your credentials (if a practitioner), what you will cover and the title of your session. Keep it short, about one minute, and leave people wanting to know more.
It’s best to have one central idea or theme for your session to help you stay on track– the time goes surprisingly quickly!
Speak from the heart and don’t over think it, the words that come naturally to you are usually the most powerful.
Feel free to make it physical – get the group involved, get them moving, ask them their thoughts and make it interactive.
Your session should have something genuine to offer – give your audience the gift of something you’ve learnt. Whether it’s your personal story of healing or your expertise in a certain field, sessions should leave participants feeling like they’ve gained something. And while there’s an opportunity to provide information about your business at the end of your session, the session itself shouldn’t be about selling anything.
Most of us get nervous about public speaking, so don’t let that put you off. The Healing Forum attracts supportive, like minded souls – no judgement here, just support! If you do get nervous, get up and walk around, move that nervous energy about!
Powerpoint’s ok to use – but we recommend that you keep it short.
Finally, remember the Healing Forum is an un-conference so no speakers are locked in ahead time. Buy your ticket, come along on the day and if the feeling grabs you – join in and run a session – everyone will thank you for it!
